Gervonta Davis delivers a knockout blow to Ryan Garcia

Davis maintains his undefeated record as he lands a devastating body punch, bringing an end to the highly anticipated showdown with Garcia.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis dealt a major blow to his American counterpart “King” Ryan Garcia, handing him his first career defeat with a powerful body shot in the seventh round of their highly anticipated fight in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 28-year-old Davis, hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, is a five-time world champion in the super-featherweight, lightweight, and super-lightweight divisions, boasting an impressive 29-0 record with 27 knockouts.

Davis had already sent Garcia to the canvas in the second round with a fierce left overhand counter punch. While Garcia had his moments, Davis took control of the fight after the second round.

The knockout punch was lightning fast, with Davis capitalizing on an advancing Garcia and landing a perfectly placed shot to Garcia’s rib cage. Despite initially attempting to continue, Garcia eventually dropped to one knee.

After the fight, Davis acknowledged the power of his punch, stating, “It was a good shot. I thought he was going to get up. I was looking at him, trying to tell him, ‘get up.’ And he just shook his head.”

Although no titles were on the line for this catch weight fight at 136 pounds (62 kg), the stakes were high with bragging rights and benefits at stake, as the fight was broadcasted live on pay-per-view and attracted a star-studded audience including former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson.

Claiming victory, Davis confidently declared, “I am the face of boxing,” and expressed his ambition to continue working towards his dreams. Garcia, on the other hand, will need to regroup after falling to a record of 23-1 with 19 knockouts.

Despite the heated build-up to the bout, Garcia graciously accepted defeat, calling it “an honor” to be in the ring with Davis. Davis remains determined to stay humble, keep working hard, and continue his boxing career until retirement.

Garcia admitted, “He just caught me with a solid shot. I couldn’t recover. It snuck under my guard and hit me hard.”

When pressed for details, Garcia hesitated, but eventually acknowledged that he struggled to breathe after the punch.

“I was planning to get back on my feet, but I just couldn’t find the strength to rise,” Garcia added.
